Tool & Die Maker – Steel Contacts & Springs
Location: Franklin Park, IL
Employment Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time
Schedule: Monday- Friday: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker specializing in precision tooling for steel contacts, springs, and small metal components. This role is critical to supporting high-quality production by building, repairing, and maintaining tooling used in stamping, forming, and metal fabrication operations.
Responsibilities
- Build, repair, and maintain progressive, compound, and single-hit dies for steel contacts and spring components
- Diagnose tooling issues and perform corrective actions to reduce downtime and scrap
- Set up and test dies to ensure proper fit, clearances, and functionality
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings
- Perform machining operations (grinding, milling, turning, EDM, polishing) as needed
- Work closely with production and engineering to support process improvements
- Maintain proper documentation for tooling changes and preventive maintenance
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and tight tolerances
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Tool & Die Maker experience (metal stamping, springs, electrical contacts preferred)
- Proficient in setup, troubleshooting, and repair of precision dies
- Strong understanding of machining, tolerances, and metal characteristics
- Ability to read blueprints and work independently
- Experience with stamping presses and related tooling equipment
- Apprenticeship or technical training in Tool & Die preferred
