Job Description
The Director of Youth Development specializing in Social Recreation oversees the club's social recreation programs including sports, games room tournaments, and community outreach initiatives. This role aims to cultivate a strong love for sports and community engagement among members while fostering partnerships and leading BGCA initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Management:
- Oversee and conduct local, Lowcountry, and statewide games room tournaments.
- Plan and lead sports programs and competitions for club members, including events for parents to attend.
- Implement BGCA-related programs such as "Mind, Body and Soul."
- Staff Supervision:
- Manage and provide leadership to three social recreation staff members.
- Recruit, hire, and train social recreation staff.
- Monitor staff performance and program outcomes.
- Community Engagement:
- Partner with local schools, clubs, and organizations for sporting events and outreach.
- Conduct community outreach to increase membership and promote sports programs.
- Sports Development:
- Teach fundamental sports skills to club members.
- Facilitate Boys to Men and Passport to Manhood programs.
- Event Planning and Coordination:
- Order medals and coordinate culmination events to conclude sports programs.
- Organize summer competitions and align them with club objectives.
- Resource Management:
- Submit an annual budget request for game room and gym supplies aligned with sport goals.
- Perform inventory and organize all sports-related items.
- Volunteer and Partnership Development:
- Foster relationships with volunteers and sports groups like FCA.
- Serve as a liaison with schools to market the club’s sports programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Education, or related field.
- Experience in youth program management and community engagement.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Work Environment
- Primarily in a Club setting with some local travel required.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and participate in active programs.
- Evening and weekend work may be required for events or programming needs.
