Role Summary:

As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, you play an essential part in maintaining the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer orders are delivered on time and in excellent condition, while also serving as the face of our organization and fostering strong relationships with clients.

The CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. This role involves delivering and unloading food and related products safely and punctually, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Teamwork is essential, and you will perform various duties as needed to support the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure vehicles meet safety standards and report any issues or required repairs.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving safety policies.
  • Promptly report any safety hazards and verify that freight is properly loaded and secured.
  • Perform item counts and verify customer invoices for loaded products; complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route schedule; unload products and transport them to designated storage areas.
  • Inspect items for damage, scan products, and communicate with supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy. Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures; collect payments when required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure the trailer doors. Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always locked and secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork, and remove trash and equipment from trailers as needed.
  • Maintain a daily log of hours worked in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring trailers are kept clean and organized. Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 6+ months or 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A license; must be at least 21 years old.
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements (if applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
  • Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Successfully complete a road test.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
  • Capable of lifting and using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights, typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
