Salary Range: $56,000 - $90,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs for lathe operations using CAD/CAM software.
  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters (speeds/feeds), and workholding methods.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine machining requirements.
  • Perform program dry runs, testing, and debugging to ensure accuracy and prevent collisions.
  • Collaborate with machinists and production staff to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes.
  • Maintain and update a library of CNC programs and related documentation.
  • Calculate and verify dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings for parts.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360) for CNC lathe programming.
  • Expertise in G-code and M-code programming for 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and apply GD&T principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of various tooling, workholding methods, and machining strategies for lathe operations.
  • Experience with machine setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting of CNC lathe programs.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with CNC lathe operation and setup.
  • Proficiency with multiple CAD/CAM software systems (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, SolidWorks CAM).
  • Experience in designing custom fixtures and workholding solutions.
  • Knowledge of post-processor development or editing.
  • Familiarity with metrology equipment and quality inspection processes.
