Job Title: Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist
Location: Fort Myers, FL (with weekly travel to Clewiston, FL – one day per week)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation: $22–$25/hour + 5 hours of overtime weekly (includes paid drive time to Clewiston on Fridays)

Position Overview:

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable and experienced Phlebotomist to join a reputable healthcare team. This full-time position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, with a focus on high-quality specimen collection and patient care.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform blood collection via venipuncture and fingerstick techniques

• Prepare and label specimens for lab analysis and ensure proper transport

• Conduct bedside procedures such as glucose testing and bleeding-time assessments

• Maintain specimen integrity by adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols

• Update and maintain accurate patient charts and electronic records

• Cross-check test requisitions with nursing logs; resolve any discrepancies

• Ensure proper documentation of all procedures and quality control measures

• Record date, time, and technician initials for each specimen collection

• Coordinate timing for therapeutic drug-monitoring assays with nursing staff

• Communicate with physicians, nursing stations, and labs to resolve test order issues

• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and legal regulations

• Participate in continuing education and maintain certifications

• Contribute to process improvements and departmental goals

Qualifications:

• Certified Phlebotomist (CPT or equivalent)

• High school diploma or GED required; additional medical training preferred

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a phlebotomy or clinical laboratory setting

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and electronic charting systems

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to Clewiston, FL once per week (drive time is paid)
