Position Summary

The Recovery Support Services Program Director provides leadership and oversight for MRC’s Recovery Support Services, with a primary focus on Recovery Coaching and RSN. The Director is responsible for day-to-day operations, staff supervision, program quality, compliance, data and outcomes reporting, and collaboration with community and funding partners. This position also includes carrying a limited RSN caseload, especially during times of high demand or staffing transitions, providing direct person-centered recovery support services.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Operations:

· Oversee daily operations of the Recovery Support Services (RSS) program, ensuring a safe, welcoming, recovery-positive environment.

· Manage referrals, intakes, service planning, documentation, and coordination with community providers.

· Develop, implement, and update program policies, procedures, and workflows.

· Coordinate recovery groups, workshops, and activities that support wellness, skills-building, and community connection.

· Carry a limited RSN caseload, including navigation, recovery planning, advocacy, linkage to resources, follow-up, and accurate documentation.

Staff Supervision & Team Culture:

· Supervise Recovery Coaches and Recovery Support Navigators, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.

· Provide regular individual and group supervision, coaching, and feedback to staff.

· Foster a collaborative, respectful team culture grounded in recovery values and mutual support.

Compliance, Data & Quality Improvement:

· Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and reporting requirements (including grant and insurer expectations, as applicable).

· Oversee accurate, timely data entry and documentation in electronic systems.

· Track key metrics and prepare reports for leadership and funders.

· Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives, including using participant feedback to strengthen services.

Community & Systems Collaboration:

· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with treatment providers, hospitals, courts, housing agencies, and other community partners.

· Represent MRC at community meetings, coalitions, and events.

· Support outreach strategies to increase awareness and accessibility of recovery services.

Fiscal & Administrative Responsibilities:

· Participate in program budget planning and monitoring.

· Collaborate with administrative/billing staff on documentation or billing-related matters.

· Assist with grant management tasks related to Recovery Support Services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, public health, or closely related field (required).

· Master’s degree preferred.

· 3–5+ years of experience in substance use/recovery support, behavioral health, or a closely related setting.

· 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience (formal or informal) overseeing staff and/or programs.

· Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed approaches; familiarity with harm reduction principles.

· Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

· Advanced proficiency with computer applications is required, including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams/SharePoint) and comfort with electronic records and data systems.

· Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and report writing.

Preferred Qualifications

· Lived experience of recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring mental health conditions, with willingness to use that experience appropriately in a professional role (strongly preferred, not required).

· LICSW, LMHC, LADC, or other relevant behavioral health licensure (preferred).

· Experience with grant-funded and/or Medicaid-funded programs, including documentation and compliance.

· Knowledge of local recovery and treatment resources in North Central Massachusetts.

Schedule & Work Conditions

Primarily weekday, daytime hours, with occasional evenings and/or weekends for events or special activities. Based at 106 Carter St, Ste 40, Leominster, MA, with some local travel for community meetings, outreach, and trainings.
