Key Responsibilities:
- Develop structural designs and perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand environmental and human-induced stresses (e.g., wind, seismic activity, gravity loads)
- Assist in managing structural engineering projects from conceptual design through construction, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and specifications
- Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to develop and refine design solutions that meet project goals and comply with building codes
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with design specifications and ensure structural integrity
- Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports using computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, PSBeam, MDX, or SAP2000)
- Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including the Ohio Department of Transportation design and construction standards, AASHTO, AISC, ACI, and ASTM
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates to determine project viability and recommend appropriate materials and construction methods
- Address technical challenges during design and construction phases, providing innovative and practical solutions
What We’re Looking For:
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering with coursework that includes Prestressed Concrete, Structural Steel, Finite Elements, and Structural Mechanics
- A passion for bridge design, analysis, and inspections
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to thrive in a team environment
