Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Pulmonary/Critical Care Physicians

Location: Long Island, New York (Nassau and Suffolk Counties)

We are seeking one to two board-eligible or board-certified Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians to join our thriving single-specialty practice. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, along with an option for independent contractor roles.

Practice Overview

The incoming physician will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • In-hospital consultations for Pulmonary and Critical Care
  • Follow-up care and procedures
  • Office-based management

We offer flexibility in work assignments and schedules, accommodating the preferences of the new physician. Opportunities in Sleep Medicine and teaching are also available but not mandatory.

Location Benefits

This practice serves two hospitals, one in Nassau County and another in Suffolk County, both of which are easily accessible. Long Island is known for its award-winning school systems and provides a peaceful, picturesque environment. The commute to Manhattan is approximately one hour, allowing for easy access to the rich cultural, recreational, and educational offerings of New York City.

Work Schedule Options

We provide several scheduling options for our physicians:

  • Option A: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Weekend call: 1 out of 4 weekends
    • Weekday call: 1 weekday per week, covering only one hospital
  • Option B: 7 days on / 7 days off
    • Working hours during shifts: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • On-call from Friday night to Monday morning, with light night call supported by Mid-Level Providers
  • Option C: Independent Provider/Independent Contractor
    • Interested candidates should specify their availability when applying.

Hospital Information

The practice admits patients to two hospitals:

  • Nassau County Hospital: An award-winning community hospital offering comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, critical care, and surgical services.
  • Suffolk County Hospital: A large teaching hospital that includes a Level II trauma center.

The new physician will work in a closed Intensive Care Unit with 12 beds and an 8-bed Step-down unit, with an average occupancy of 75% to 80%.

Candidate Qualifications

We welcome applications from Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows completing their training in 2026, as well as experienced physicians already in practice.

Compensation and Benefits

Our practice offers a competitive financial package, including:

  • Base Salary: Ranges from $300,000 to $350,000, highly competitive for the Long Island area.
  • Productivity Incentive Bonus: Available for both work schedule options, enhancing earning potential based on effort and productivity.
