Popular DC barbecue restaurant Federalist Pig is opening a NEW location and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Broil/Grill Cook to join our culinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meats, seafood, and vegetables using broilers and grills to exact customer specifications (e.g., steak temperatures: rare, medium-rare, etc.).
  • Set up and stock the grill station with all necessary supplies, ingredients, and equipment before service.
  • Monitor and manage grill temperatures and cooking times to ensure consistency, quality, and food safety standards are met at all times.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other line cooks (sauté, fry, expo) and front-of-house staff to ensure timely and seamless order execution.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations, including proper labeling, dating, and storage of all food items.
  • Assist with general food preparation (e.g., butchering meat, chopping vegetables, preparing marinades) and other kitchen duties as assigned by the Executive or Sous Chef.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Broil Cook, Grill Cook, in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of various grilling techniques, temperature control, and meat doneness.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to recipes, portion control, and plate presentation.
  • Stamina & Adaptability: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work effectively in a hot, fast-paced, and demanding environment..
  • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen brigade.
