The Event Audio-Visual Support Coordinator plays a vital role in the successful execution of events at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church by managing all audio-visual (AV) support needs. This position is responsible for coordinating AV resources, assigning technicians, and serving as the primary liaison between the Media & Production team and event organizers to ensure seamless support for internal and external events.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
Event Scheduling & Coordination
- Schedule all events requiring AV support in collaboration with the church events calendar.
- Assign AV technicians to cover setup, live support, and breakdown for each event.
- Maintain and update an internal AV events calendar to avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Director of Production & Media.
Member & Team Communication
- Serve as the point of contact for ministries, departments, and external event organizers regarding AV needs.
- Conduct planning meetings or consultations with event organizers to assess technical requirements.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with AV staff to ensure readiness and understanding of responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Director of Production & Media.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure proper setup, operation, and breakdown of AV equipment before and after events.
- Coordinate with technical staff to confirm equipment availability and functionality.
- Support troubleshooting during live events when needed.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of AV event requests, team assignments, and outcomes.
- Provide post-event feedback to the Director of Media & Production to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in audio-visual coordination or technical event support, preferably in a church, school, or event venue.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Working knowledge of AV systems including microphones, speakers, projectors, lighting, and video recording equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple events and assignments with attention to detail.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as events require.
- A heart for worshipping God.
- Commitment to the mission and ministry of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in a church/community center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand, and/or dust. The working conditions will range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple church locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, based on the church or a representation of churches in the city or area.
