Supervisor: Manager of Visitor Services
Union Minimum Rate: $19.99/hr
Position Summary:
As the first impression for guests to the Milwaukee Art Museum, an icon of the city, Visitor Services Supervisors lead with exceptional service and empathy, ensuring their team promotes a positive guest experience from beginning to end at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Supervisors are part of the front-line team at the Milwaukee Art Museum and are a part of the Experience Team. Supervisors provide management of associates, admissions, memberships, volunteers and collaborate closely with departments across the campus.
Supervisor Essential Job Functions:
- Proactively welcomes all visitors to MAM by greeting and assuring visitor connections are made by all associates in staff positions.
- Leadership of the entire visitor experience from entry until exit; including parking assistance and the reception phone line assistance.
- Assist VS Associates in fulfilling their job requirements as listed in the Visitor Services Associate Job Description. Ticket sales, membership sales, visitor enhancements, programming, wayfinding, etc.
- Ensures that VS associates meet standards of customer service and excellence including disciplinary actions and documentation as needed.
- Assist with staff scheduling and daily rosters for VS Associates.
- Maintain customer service awareness and implement problem solving strategies.
- Resolves minor customer service issues.
- Provide information requested by visitors or assist visitors with sources of information.
- Daily operations for admission POS, reporting and safe management.
- Ensure staff awareness of campus information and review all incoming information.
- Participate in ongoing training activities; similarly, be self-motivated towards maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the Milwaukee Art Museum and its programs and activities.
- Provide interdepartmental assistance in collection of information relating to visitors and their experience at the Museum Act as substitute for VS associates as needed.
- Alert Security personnel about medical emergencies.
- Operation of information screens and any other media distribution as needed.
- Training and coaching of indirect reports.
- Maintain staff reference guide resources as needed.
- Monitor supply levels of collateral/ticketing/desk supplies.
- Communicate Museum policies and procedures in a positive manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; a natural affinity for working with and engaging people.
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or sales is required.
- Track record of commitment and reliability.
- Experience working both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to actively listen to visitors, quickly problem solve, and be responsive to needs.
- Exceptional ability to sustain enthusiastic and positive interactions with visitors and staff for length of shift.
- Basic skills in technology required. TAM and eTix are helpful but not required.
- Must be interested and enthusiastic about learning and sharing information.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
Temperament:
Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, self-starter and work well under pressure. Manages time efficiently, analyzes and solves problems, independently and if necessary, collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and embrace changes within this position due to departmental priorities. Ability to work with many people to achieve the Museum's goals.
Physical requirements:
- Sit at a desk.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Use hands to handle or touch.
- Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
- Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
- Work Museum open hours, nights, weekends, holidays and special event programming.
