Position Overview

The Operations Manager will oversee daily plant operations, ensuring optimal performance across production, maintenance, quality, and logistics. This role requires a hands-on leader with metals or aluminum industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight

Manage daily operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality in line with company standards.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor supervisors and frontline staff; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Process Optimization

Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other efficiency tools to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure all operations meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Safety

Promote a safety-first culture; oversee training, audits, and compliance with OSHA and environmental standards.

Budget & Planning

Manage operational budgets, forecast production needs, and coordinate with supply chain and sales teams.

Reporting

Track and report KPIs, analyze performance data, and provide recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred).

Experience

Minimum 5–7 years in operations management within the metals, aluminum, or heavy manufacturing industry.

Leadership

Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage performance in a union and/or non-union environment.

Technical Skills

Proficiency with ERP systems, production metrics, and Lean/Six Sigma principles.

Communication

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work across departments and with external partners.
