JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Pastoral Assistant promotes and coordinates service and mission and Christian formation opportunities for the university community. He/she attends the Sunday Eucharist, and serves with other members of the Campus Ministry team in promoting faith formation and spiritual development, holistic education, and the Catholic and Vincentian identity and mission of the University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop materials for reflection on peace and justice issues from a Catholic perspective, and provide insight and strategies for the inclusion of marginalized student populations;
- Implement the missionary disciple model for the student portion of the university population;
- Coordinate service immersion trips (Vincentian Immersion Program);
- Coordinate the Christmas Giving project and develop other direct service opportunities;
- Develop, coordinate, and market weekly programming, appropriate to both Catholic and non-Catholic populations (e.g. Bible study/small group)
- Coordinate the weekend retreat program in each semester
- Develop and maintain outreach to Campus Activities, Niagara IMPACT, and other offices through staff support;
- Refer students for human development and spiritual growth;
- Maintain Campus Ministry presence on social media platforms;
- Support the ministry of each team member through prayer, encouragement, time, and energy;
- Participate in bi-weekly team meetings and in regular days designated for evaluation, planning and sharing;
- Maintain flexibility within schedule;
- Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment;
- Abide by the professional standards of the Catholic Campus Ministry Association of the U.S.A.;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
