Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., NIC, EIPA, or similar)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with advanced interpretation skills
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with K-12 students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
- Cultural competence and understanding of the Deaf community
Location:
- Kansas City, KS
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring access to the curriculum
- Collaborate with educators to support instructional goals and adapt materials as needed
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Maintain documentation of interpretation sessions and student progress
- Support students in developing social and academic skills through effective communication
