Position Overview
This position supports the Automation Systems Group (ASG) in executing mechanical design tasks for industrial robotic systems. The ideal candidate will have experience designing mechanical components, fixtures, and automated systems, along with strong CAD and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and detail mechanical hardware for automation system projects
- Create system layouts, cable tray and wire routing designs
- Develop mechanical tooling, fixtures (robot-mounted and fixed), and CNC fixtures
- Design pneumatic and hydraulic systems and circuitry
- Participate in project team meetings, customer meetings, and design reviews
- Support mechanical and electrical system integration
- Manage multiple design tasks, schedules, and drawing revisions
- Maintain drawing file control and update redline drawings
- Lead vendor design activities and coordinate design reviews
- Create and work with 3D simulation data for system designs
- Ensure projects are completed within design/build budgets
- Perform design work using AutoCAD (2D) and Onshape (3D)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and take on lead design responsibilities when assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation, preferably robotic systems
- Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic design
- Experience designing robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), fixtures, and automation equipment
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Onshape (3D)
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with ISO-9001 or similar quality systems
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience
Experience in automation, robotics, or manufacturing environments preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SolidWorks is a plus
