Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support students in an elementary school setting in Washington, DC, for the 2025-2026 school year. The role involves working with varied grade levels including kindergarten through first grade, as well as fifth and sixth/seventh grades. This position offers a contract-to-hire arrangement and will focus on inclusion and small group pull-out instruction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to students individual education plans in small group and inclusive classroom settings
- Managing a caseload of fewer than 10 students to provide targeted educational support
- Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff across different buildings within the same campus
- Participating in onsite interviews, including performing a demonstration lesson to showcase teaching skills
- Maintaining consistent presence onsite during full-time hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Previous experience teaching Special Education students in inclusion or pull-out formats
- Experience or familiarity with ELA/English instruction is a plus, though not a strict requirement
- Flexibility to hold out-of-state teaching licenses, as candidates with diverse certification backgrounds will be considered
- Strong classroom management, munication, and collaboration skills
This full-time position begins on July 31st and extends through June 18th, structured on a 45-hour workweek. While the role primarily requires onsite instruction, there may be some opportunity for virtual case management depending on the candidate pool. Salary details will be discussed during the interview process.
