Title: Part-Time Lab Technician

Location: Milpitas, CA

Hire Type: Contract

Salary: $30 - $40/hr (DOE)

Schedule: Flexible part-time schedule

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Lab Technician to support our engineering team at Flex in Milpitas, CA. This position will work closely with Applications Engineering and report directly to the Director of Field Applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with complex printed circuit boards (PCBs), including fine-pitch component soldering, board modifications, and verification testing. This role offers a flexible part-time schedule and is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting and laboratory skills.

Job Duties:

  • Support the Applications Engineering team with technical projects and laboratory activities.
  • Perform complex modifications and rework on large, high-density printed circuit boards.
  • Execute fine-pitch component soldering and replacement, including 0201-sized components.
  • Review and interpret PCB schematics, layouts, and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct verification and functional testing on complex circuit boards using advanced laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving PCB-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of modifications, testing activities, and results.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with quality standards and engineering requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support product development, validation, and customer projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with complex printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Strong experience using schematic capture and PCB layout viewing tools.
  • Proven ability to perform fine-pitch soldering, including 0201 component rework and replacement.
  • Experience conducting verification and validation testing on complex electronic assemblies.
  • Proficiency using advanced laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and related tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting engineering teams.
  • Flexible availability to support pre-committed part-time work hours.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
