Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician at AO Multispecialty Clinic , you will play a vital role in our healthcare team by rotating between our Chemotherapy/IV Pharmacy and Dispensing Pharmacy. This diverse position not only enhances your skills but also allows you to contribute significantly to patient care and safety.


Key Responsibilities:


Chemotherapy Pharmacy:

-Prepare Life-Saving Medications: Accurately prepare chemotherapy and other critical medications, ensuring the highest standards of safety and precision.

-Manage Inventory Effectively: Utilize the Lynx Mobile Dispensing System to oversee drug inventory. Monitor stock levels to minimize overstock and ensure timely checks on expiration dates.

-Prioritize Safety: Maintain the Biohazard Safety Cabinet, adhering to daily use protocols and a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure a safe working environment.

-Ensure Drug Availability: Review the daily treatment schedule to assess and confirm the availability of necessary medications, proactively addressing any concerns.

-Maintain Quality Assurance: Keep meticulous QA records for essential equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and eyewash stations, to ensure compliance with safety standards.

-Support Infusion Area: Restock supplies required for the infusion area, ensuring that our healthcare providers have everything they need to deliver exceptional care.


Dispensing Pharmacy:

-Eligibility Verification: Assess patient eligibility for benefits by utilizing the dispensing pharmacy system, accurately documenting findings in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for seamless continuity of care.

-Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense oral and injectable medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with all regulations, while also collecting co-pays from patients to facilitate the transaction process.

-Record Maintenance: Maintain comprehensive and organized records within the Pharmaserv system, along with hard copies of prescriptions and other necessary documentation to support legal and operational requirements.

-Reporting and Monitoring: Generate and review daily reports of pharmacy activity. Monitor these reports to identify any profit/loss discrepancies, ensuring the financial health of the pharmacy operations.

-Payment Reconciliation: Reconcile payments received from payors with claims filed, ensuring accurate posting of financial transactions to maintain the integrity of the pharmacy’s financial records.

-Inventory Management: Manage drug inventory effectively, ensuring that stock levels meet operational requirements without leading to overstock situations, thereby optimizing efficiency.

-Refill Monitoring: Keep track of patient medication refills, with a particular focus on specialty drugs, to ensure patients receive their medications on time and maintain adherence to their therapy.

-Patient Support Collaboration: Communicate proactively with the Patient Advocate regarding patients who may need or qualify for financial assistance, ensuring that all patients have access to their required medications.
