Position Overview
We are seeking a flexible and dependable Substitute Teacher Assistant to support our classrooms on an as-needed basis. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children and can step in seamlessly to support daily classroom activities while ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
What You’ll Do
Classroom Support
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities and lesson plans
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom
- Prepare materials for daily instruction
Child Supervision & Engagement
- Supervise children during activities, playtime, and transitions
- Create a positive, nurturing environment
- Support appropriate classroom behavior and routines
Individualized Support
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance as needed
- Observe and share developmental insights with the Lead Teacher
- Support children with diverse learning needs
Health & Safety
- Ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times
- Assist with hygiene routines (handwashing, diapering, cleaning)
- Follow all center policies and emergency procedures
Team & Family Support
- Communicate respectfully with staff and families
- Support classroom and center-wide activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a positive environment
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Must be at least 16 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine passion for working with children
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred
- Experience in childcare or early childhood education
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field
Certifications (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- CPR & First Aid
- Child Abuse Recognition Training
- Medication Administration Training (if applicable)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively engage with children throughout the day
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
