Job DescriptionJob Summary :
The surgical scheduler properly schedules, effectively manages and coordinates all outpatient surgical procedures. They assure all clinical and insurance information are obtained for the surgery schedule. The surgery scheduler verifies accurate information and maintains open communication between the physicians and the surgical facility regarding any scheduling changes.
Essential Duties:
-Schedule patients for outpatient surgery
-Schedule pre-operative and post-operative appointments
-Educate patients on proper medical clearances required for surgery
-Completes requirements on HST as needed by the surgical facility
-Verifies patient benefits for surgical procedures
-Obtain pre-authorization for surgical procedures
-Obtain patient surgical cost estimates for surgical procedures
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
-High School Diploma or GED Certificate
-2 years experience in outpatient/private practice environment; podiatry/orthopedic preferred
-Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes for pre-authorization for surgical procedures
-Excellent professional communication skills, both in person and on the telephone
-Flexibility to handle schedule changes with patient's request
-Strong written/verbal communication for patient care; medical terminology knowledge
-Highly organized, detail-oriented; able to professionally manage stressful situations
-Compliance/Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and patient confidentiality
-Availity, Eclinical Works and HST (formely Case Tabs) experiance a PLUS KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:
-Scheduling outpatient procedures, pre & post-operative, and follow up appointments
-Educate patients on required surgical clearances and cost estimates for the procedure
-Obtain necessary pre-authorization for procedures with the patient's insurance
-Confirm all required surgical clearances are obtained prior to any procedure
