Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Traveling Structural Stick Welders for short‑term assignments supporting mission‑critical facility projects. This role focuses on AWS D1.1 structural steel welding, primarily involving beams, precast components, and related assemblies. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW (stick) welding on structural steel components in accordance with AWS D1.1 specifications.
- Weld structural beams, columns, and assemblies using E7018 electrodes.
- Complete welds in the 3G (vertical) position and other required positions.
- Perform precast welding, including footer connections, roof connections, and alignment connections.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings.
- Prepare materials by fitting, tacking, grinding, and cleaning weld areas.
- Ensure weld quality meets inspection standards (visual inspection and NDT when required).
- Follow all site safety protocols, including PPE and procedures common to data center and industrial job sites.
- Complete all welding tasks in accordance with project specifications and safety requirements.
Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a structural stick welder on commercial or industrial projects.
- AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (Required).
- Strong proficiency with SMAW / stick welding using 7018 rods.
- Proven experience welding structural beams and columns.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
- OSHA 10 Certification (Required).
- Ability and willingness to travel to job sites.
Additional Skills & Preferences
- Personal welding hood preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM to 4:00 or 5:00 PM
- Saturday: Additional 8‑hour shift
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
