Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Behavioral Health (Adult Psych Unit / Psych Float Pool)

Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 3x12-Hour Shifts (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)

• One Day shift and one Day/Evening shift available

• Every other weekend required

• Some holidays required

Position Summary

Seeking experienced LPNs for the Adult Psychiatric Unit and Psych Float Pool. Candidates must have prior psychiatric experience. Pediatric behavioral health experience is preferred. The LPN will provide direct patient care in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting and support interdisciplinary team functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in accordance with established nursing care plans

• Perform patient assessments, monitor behaviors, and report changes in condition

• Take and document vital signs and patient progress

• Administer medications and injections as ordered

• Assist with procedures including paps and other clinical treatments

• Prepare patients and exam rooms for evaluations and procedures

• Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas to ensure safety and compliance

• Assist physicians and RNs with patient care activities

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

• Obtain insurance authorizations and referrals as needed

• Support unit-based activities and participate in nursing unit management

• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for documentation

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State LPN license

• CPR certification (or ability to obtain/recertify)

• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience required

• Psychiatric/Behavioral Health experience required

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in an acute care inpatient setting with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric behavioral health experience

• Prior inpatient psychiatric experience

• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
