This full-time faculty role is ideal for enthusiastic clinicians who are also dedicated educators, eager to enhance the care provided to individuals facing complex mental health challenges while training the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Our outpatient psychiatry clinic plays a vital role within a prominent academic medical center, supported by a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, vocational counselors, and a neuropsychologist. We work closely with both primary and specialty care providers to ensure a holistic, patient-centered approach to treatment. The clinic is linked to a comprehensive care continuum, which includes a partial hospital program, an inpatient facility, and an emergency department with an acute psychiatry unit, facilitating seamless transitions and extensive support for our patients.

Position Highlights:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care to adults in an outpatient environment, focusing on those with complex and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Actively participate in collaborative treatment planning alongside multidisciplinary colleagues and referring providers throughout the care continuum.
  • Function as a clinical educator, mentoring psychiatry residents and medical students through direct supervision, didactic sessions, and clinical consultations.
  • Engage in team and staff meetings, quality improvement projects, and opportunities for academic growth and scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School, with completion of an internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.
  • Current or eligible licensure as a physician from the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
  • Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility for examination, as evidenced by written documentation.
  • Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.
  • Possession of a current DEA Registration Certificate.
  • Proven experience or a strong interest in adult outpatient psychiatry, particularly in treating patients with complex mental health conditions.
  • A passion for medical education and mentorship, with a commitment to teaching and learning in a diverse academic setting.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive compensation package that includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified candidates, reimbursement for CME expenses, and malpractice insurance.
  • Comprehensive benefits such as Paid Time Off, CME time, retirement plans with employer contributions, medical, dental, vision, life/disability coverage, and more.
  • Institutional support for obtaining a faculty appointment at a prestigious medical school.
