Job Description

The Senior Human Resources Generalist will oversee and manage key HR functions within our non-profit organization, including benefits administration, employee relations, and the management of the ADP Workforce Now HRIS system. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of non-profit HR operations and a commitment to supporting our mission of assisting individuals who are blind. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an environment where dogs are present.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • HRIS Management
    • Serve as the primary administrator for ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accurate employee data management and system functionality.
    • Oversee system configurations, updates, and integrations to align with organizational needs.
    • Generate and analyze HR reports, including headcount, turnover, and benefits utilization, to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Coordinate and manage online performance management process.
    • Provide training and support to HR staff and other users on ADP functionalities and best practices.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, worker’s comp, and other programs.
    • Manage the annual open enrollment process, ensuring timely communication and accurate processing.
    • Manage employee leaves of absence.
    • Address employee inquiries regarding benefits, eligibility, and claims, providing clear and accurate information.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to benefits offerings.
  • Employee Relations
    • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related matters, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
    • Address and resolve employee concerns, assist the HR Director in investigations when necessary and ensure fair and consistent application of policies.
    • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.
  • Compliance and Policy Administration
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance.
    • Assist in the development and revision of HR policies and procedures, aligning with best practices and legal requirements.
    • Prepare and submit required reports, such as EEO-1 and affirmative action plans, in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Payroll Support
    • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager and serve as backup to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee compensation.
    • Assist in the resolution of payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries related to pay and deductions.
  • Training and Development
    • Coordinate and deliver training programs on HR policies, compliance topics, and professional development.
    • Support leadership in identifying training needs and developing initiatives to enhance employee skills and performance.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, with at least 2 years in a senior or generalist role within a non-profit organization.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now HRIS; experience with benefits administration and compliance reporting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of non-profit HR operations, employee relations, and benefits programs.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ethics: High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Animal Comfort: Must be comfortable working in an environment where dogs are present.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification.
  • Experience: Familiarity with nonprofit sector regulations and funding structures.
  • Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
