Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13+ facilities with 22+ micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
Job Description:
The Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in implementing marketing and communications
strategies that support our mission, programs, and fundraising initiatives. This position is responsible for
creating compelling content, managing digital platforms, supporting campaigns, event promotion
and outreach efforts to engage donors, volunteers, and the community. This position will also work
closely with staff to gather meaningful stories and testimonials that showcase our impact. The ideal
candidate will be a creative, detail-oriented professional passionate about social impact and
nonprofit work.
The pay range for this role is $20-24 per hour.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Social Media Management:
- Develop, write, and schedule social media content across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Community management on social media. Including prompt management of comments and mentions, and alerting management of potentially sensitive issues.
- Draft and distribute email newsletters, announcements, and donor communications
- Maintain and update website content using [CMS platform — e.g., WordPress]
- Design basic graphics, flyers, and promotional materials using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Help ensure all content across all department aligns with Illumination Health + Home’s brand and voice.
Campaign & Event Support:
- Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns for events, fundraisers, and awareness initiatives, including digital (social media, email, website) and traditional (print, flyers, newsletters).
- Coordinate the production and distribution of promotional materials.
- Coordinate photography and film shoots.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with program, development, and admin staff to identify, gather ad document
- client stories, volunteer spotlights, program milestones and organizational achievement.
- Commute to Illumination service locations to collect stories, testimonials and photos for marketing materials.
- Collect and compile program statistics and impact data for marketing materials, reports and campaigns.
- Maintain a content library of stories, testimonials, photos, and program metrics for use in marketing and fundraising efforts.
Administrative & Reporting Duties:
- Track and report on marketing metrics and analytics (social media, website traffic, email open rates)
- Manage digital asset libraries, email lists, and marketing calendars.
- Support the development team with donor communications and campaign collateral.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field, or
- equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or administration.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel between
- service locations as needed
- Must thrive on diverse assignment and deadlines.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling tools
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Basic knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable collaborating across departments and working with diverse stakeholders
Preferred
- Experience working in nonprofit or mission-driven environment
- Familiarity with website CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace) and Google Analytics
- Experience in using donor databases or DRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge,
- Bloomerang, or similar)
