Job Description

Position Overview:

A growing precision manufacturer is seeking an entry-level CNC Machine Operator/Machinist to join their production team. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of CNC and manual machines used in spring and wire form production. Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years of CNC experience, preferably with a background in high-volume production. Recent technical school graduates (e.g., TCAT or similar) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate spring CNC machines, including drill presses, engine lathes, surface grinders, and milling machines.

  • Perform complex setups and adjust machines to meet blueprint specifications and customer tolerances.

  • Use quality control tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators to ensure part accuracy.

  • Follow Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures and maintain accurate SPC charts.

  • Detect machine or part defects during operation and make timely corrections.

  • Conduct basic machine maintenance as needed to ensure operational readiness.

  • Train and assist less experienced team members on SPC techniques and shop practices.

  • Follow all safety and quality assurance procedures in accordance with company policies.

  • Lift materials or equipment up to 45 lbs as needed and remain active throughout the shift.

Preferred Background:

  • 1–3 years of experience in CNC machine operation; experience with spring-forming equipment is a plus but not required.

  • Hands-on knowledge of shop equipment (manual mills, lathes, grinders, etc.).

  • Familiarity with blueprints, SPC, and general machining standards.

  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment preferred (not tool & die).

  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow work instructions.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a technical certification program (e.g., TCAT) strongly preferred.

  • Basic math and mechanical problem-solving skills.

  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, production-driven setting.
