Job Summary
The Fiberglass Mold Technician is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and repairing fiberglass molds used in the production of marine components. This role ensures molds are in optimal condition to meet quality, safety, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare molds for production, including cleaning, waxing, and buffing surfaces.
- Inspect molds for damage or defects and perform necessary repairs.
- Apply release agents to ensure proper part removal.
- Maintain mold alignment, surface finish, and structural integrity.
- Assist in mold setup and teardown during production runs.
- Perform fiberglass layup and repair work on molds as needed.
- Follow safety procedures when working with resins, fiberglass, and chemicals.
- Maintain records of mold condition, usage, and repairs.
- Collaborate with production supervisors and quality teams to resolve mold-related issues.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in fiberglass, composites, or mold work preferred.
- Basic knowledge of fiberglass layup techniques and mold repair processes.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Understanding of safety requirements for working with chemicals and PPE.
Physical Requirements
· Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
· Must be able to see details at close range.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.
· Must be able to work at a fast pace.
· Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
