Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our clients growing professional services firm in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early‑career accounting professional to gain hands‑on experience across core accounting functions in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and fully in‑office environment. The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with financial reporting, and work closely with senior accounting and finance team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day‑to‑day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reports
- Review and analyze invoices, expense reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with firm policies
- Support audit requests and respond to internal and external inquiries
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information
- Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 1+ years of accounting experience, including internships
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline‑driven, fully in‑office environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the accounting profession
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship experience in accounting
- Exposure to professional services or public accounting environments
- Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
Work Environment
- Full‑time, on‑site role — 5 days per week in the Chicago office
- 40 hour work week
