We are hiring a Composite Technician to join our team! You will operate machinery and equipment, as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lay out, trim, and fit fiberglass components using hand tools, pneumatic tools, routers, die grinders
- Install threaded inserts, metal brackets, hinges, latches, and other hardware using adhesives, rivets, screws, or secondary bonding.
- Perform secondary bonding operations with polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy, or methacrylate adhesives (meter-mix dispensing equipment, manual application).
- Assemble sub-assemblies, and final products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Sand, and finish surfaces using orbital sanders, DA sanders, and body filler to achieve Class A or structural finish requirements.
- Inspect parts for defects (voids, delamination, resin-rich areas, print-through, etc.) and perform minor repairs.
- Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting fixtures to move large composite parts safely.
- Maintain accurate production records, traveler/router documentation, and traceability logs.
- Keep workstation and tools clean and organized; follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement, safety, and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical school or vocational training a plus.
- 6 months of hands-on experience in fiberglass/composites assembly, boat building, automotive body work, or related field.
- Proficient with pneumatic and electric hand tools (die grinders, routers, drills, sanders).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Comfortable working with resins, adhesives, solvents, and dust (proper PPE provided).
- Basic math skills and ability to use measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, squares).
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with methacrylate adhesives (Plexus, Crestomer, etc.) or structural epoxy bonding.
- Familiarity with vacuum bagging, infusion, or light RTM processes.
- Previous work in marine (boat building), wind energy, or transportation composites.
- Forklift or overhead crane certification.
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure.

Physical Requirements :
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs with assistance.
- Regular use of respirators, gloves, coveralls, and eye protection.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when handling large parts.
