Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in early childhood education at an elementary school in Avondale, AZ. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through May 21, 2026, focusing on delivering high-quality instruction and support in a self-contained classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to a self-contained class of up to 8 students in a half-day program with sessions from 7:30-10:30 AM and 11:30 AM-2:30 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with rotating hours on Wednesdays.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including preparation for upcoming kindergarten transition IEP meetings beginning in January.
- Support and lead paraprofessionals and non-certified team members in achieving IEP goals and facilitate collaborative teamwork.
- Employ the STARS curriculum and effective behavior support strategies tailored to students with autism and other high needs.
- Maintain comprehensive instructional planning and documentation aligned with best practices for special education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona Early Childhood Special Education license.
- IVP fingerprint clearance card.
- Extensive experience working with students with high needs, particularly those with autism.
- Strong skills in instructional planning, IEP writing, facilitation, and behavior support.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams.
