Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A nursing opportunity is available in a Level III Trauma Centers Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) located in Lowell, MA. This contract role offers the chance to work in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU caring for critically ill adult patients with complex conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, and more. The MICU operates in a dynamic environment supported by a dedicated team including attending physicians and residents onsite 24/7.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of continuous Adult ICU experience, preferably in MICU
  • Competency in reading telemetry strips is required
  • Active Massachusetts RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications current and valid
  • Ability to float to Medical/Surgical units as needed
  • Experience working with high acuity patient loads and flexible patient ratios (1:1, 1:2 in ICU; up to 1:4 or 1:5 when floating)

Schedule / Hours:

  • Primarily night shifts with every other weekend coverage (EOW), or 36 to 48-hour schedules
  • Floating between ICU and med-surg units required
  • Day shift rotations may vary between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a; night shifts do not rotate

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU setting
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry continuously
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding attending physicians and residentsto develop and implement patient care plans
  • Adapt nursing care during floating to med-surg units with different patient ratios and acuity
  • Document care accurately using the EPIC electronic medical record system
