Teller 1
Salary Range

Job Summary
Performs transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with a high degree of accuracy. Maintains accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
General Accountabilities
SCFCU expects regular attendance and punctuality. This means being in the workplace, ready to work, at your scheduled start time each day and completing your entire shift. Employees are also expected to return from scheduled meal and break periods on time.
Greets and welcomes members to the Credit Union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
Receives share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records. Use DAMP test with checks.
Processes cash share drafts/checks and withdrawals; pays out money after verification of signatures and member balances.
Assists with mail or email transactions, when available.
Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all Credit Union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers.
Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area.
Promotes, explains, and cross-sells other Credit Union services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRA's, share certificates, debit cards, on-line banking and money orders, etc.
Receives mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensures the payments match balances due. Enters payments into computer software. Generates member receipts.
Places hold on accounts for uncollected funds.
Counts, checks, and packages coins and currency.
Balances cash drawer at the end of the shift and compares totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet. Researches and resolves discrepancies. Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.
Ensures that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.
Reports malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.
Checks night drop depository and records proper information according to Credit Union procedures.
Answers phones as necessary to assist with member questions and transactions.
Moves money from drawer to vault and vault to drawer following Credit Union procedures.
Performs opening/closing responsibilities.
Completes address change procedures.
Prints and uses direct deposit forms.
Helps to readdress and update member address on returned mail.
Performs various other duties as requested by management.
Job Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements: Highschool Diploma/GED.
Language Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
