JOB TITLE: Program Supervisor, Forest History Center
LOCATION: Forest History Center, 2609 County Road 76, Grand Rapids, MN 55744
COMPENSATION: Typical starting range $57,054.40 - $71,298.00 annually
STATUS & HOURS: Full-time, regular (approximately 2080 annual hours) position.
BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals with additional paid holidays.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to provide direct supervision for site program staff and volunteers, develop site public programming, coordinate the daily operations, and participate in community outreach.
SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Provide direct supervision of program staff and support for interpretive program delivery; 2) Develop and implement a wide variety of interpretive and K-12 programs, in various formats, that engage audiences of diverse ages, backgrounds, interests and learning styles; 3) Plan, schedule, and supervise the delivery of special programs, workshops, demonstrations, and events; 4) Schedule and supervise the delivery of school field trip programs; and 5) Support daily site operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Studies, Education, related field or equivalent.

Three years experience working in education, program delivery, program or curriculum development, or equivalent.

Two years of supervisory experience, including mentoring, performance management, hiring, and scheduling.

Experience creating, evaluating, and updating education curriculum and programming.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time to perform programming responsibilities inside and outside in all weather conditions.
-
Ability to walk long distances and orient oneself in the woods.
-
Ability to lift 30 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with a partner.

Ability to perform physical work that includes, but isn’t limited to movements: to climb and balance; bend, twist, and turn at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Ability to operate a tractor, ultra-terrain vehicle, and golf cart safely. (Willingness to learn to use this equipment if experience is limited.)

Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of general American history and, specifically, Minnesota history.

Knowledge of forest history.
