Established entrepreneurially minded Real Estate Management company seeking candidates for a Real Estate Accounting position. This is a growth oriented position in which we value the knowledge and feedback of our employees.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Real Estate Accountant is responsible for the financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of multifamily properties. This role includes the preparation of financial statements, recording of typical accounting journal entries and assisting with accounts payable and cash management. Responsibilities also include coordinating with community managers and asset managers on monthly owner reports, recommending and implementing process/other improvements, and special projects. The position reports to the Accounting Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and other reports for assigned properties.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries for a portfolio of properties, including reclasses and accruals provided by onsite community managers.
  • Record estimates, accruals, and payments of property insurance and real estate taxes.
  • Collaborate with community managers to ensure deposits and other items are recorded appropriately.
  • Reconcile bank accounts efficiently and resolve pending items timely.
  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare Capital/ Replacement draws on a quarterly/ monthly basis.
  • Assist with accounts payable, such as entering invoices, running AP reports, and researching AP payments. Set up and maintain AP vendor accounts in accounting system.
  • Work directly with the Accounting Manager to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Assist with any additional projects as directed by the Accounting Manager.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare or assist with cash projections for the properties.

· Monitor debt service payments and compliance with debt covenants

· Monitor and ensure timely payment of all real estate taxes.

  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.

Education / Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in real estate full-cycle accounting, preferably in multifamily or commercial
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Self-motivated individual who possesses a "roll up the sleeves” attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong organizational skills with great follow-through on tasks and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and resourceful
  • Thrives in unstructured environment
  • Excellent oral and written communicator with strong customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Entrata accounting/property management system a plus
