Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide advanced nursing care within a dynamic medical/surgical environment focused on orthopedic and telemetry patients. This travel opportunity is based in Gastonia, NC, offering a rewarding role in a well-equipped facility featuring 207 licensed beds, a Chest Pain and Stroke Center designation, and a supportive interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care on assigned medical-surgical orthopedic or telemetry units managing patients with diagnoses including joint replacements, spinal surgeries, stroke, and cardiac conditions.
- Perform specialized nursing skills such as cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, tracheostomy management, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, NGT placement, PCA pump operation, and medication drip management including cardiac drips and heparin.
- Collaborate effectively with CNAs, charge nurses, IV teams, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists for coordinated patient care.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, and operate Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.
- Flexibly float within the designated regional hospitals as needed, maintaining scope of practice and ensuring continuity of care.
- Adhere to a weekend rotation schedule (every other weekend), with no on-call duties. Holiday work expectations are 75% coverage.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license with at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience; orthopedic experience required for ortho/unit assignment.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Proficient in stroke care, critical care monitoring, and complex nursing interventions.
- Ability to float across multiple affiliated facilities within the regional network.
- First-time travelers are considered though not preferred.
