Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, active Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification, and 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Teacher of the Deaf position is available in a K-12 school setting located in New York, NY. This contract role spans the 2025-2026 school year, starting on September 2, 2025, and concluding on June 24, 2026. The position requires a New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in Teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid NYSED certification as Teacher of the Deaf
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 grade levels
  • Strong communication skills to support individualized educational plans
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including audiologists, speech therapists, and general educators

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state standards
  • Use assistive technologies and language modalities appropriate to student needs
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instructional methods accordingly
  • Participate in team meetings and maintain clear communication with parents and staff
  • Support classroom environments that encourage academic and social growth

Location:

  • Position based in New York, NY, with activities primarily at the assigned K-12 school
