Heavy Civil Project Manager
Location: Houston, TX (Local Projects Only - No Overnight Travel)
Compensation: $120,000 - $200,000 base salary
Project Focus: Subdivisions, Roadways, Utilities, Tunneling
About Us
We are a Houston-based civil contractor with deep Texas roots. We self-perform about 70% of our volume and handle a range of municipal and private projects throughout Harris County and surrounding areas. Our team is growing, and we're looking for a capable, committed Project Manager who understands the full scope of civil construction-from utilities and paving to subdivision development.
Role Overview
This Project Manager will lead complex civil projects ranging from a $4M roadway project to a $15M tunneling job in Harris County. You'll oversee foremen, subcontractors, and internal crews from a site trailer, staying close to the details while managing timelines, cost tracking, and client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee subdivision and city-focused infrastructure projects
- Supervise crews (typically 8 to 20 people), including 3+ foremen across underground and utility teams
- Manage subcontractors on scopes like asphalt, irrigation, and traffic control
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and agency reps to meet Harris County and local specs
- Operate out of field trailers on major jobs, maintaining a strong presence on-site
- Develop and maintain tracking logs for schedule, cost, and documentation-used to support reimbursement and cost adjustments
- Use Primavera P6 and Excel for project planning and reporting
- Help ensure quality control, crew efficiency, and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of civil construction project management experience
- Deep understanding of Harris County construction specs and local permitting practices
- Hands-on experience with all scopes: underground utilities, dirt work, and paving
- Familiarity with municipal and public works contracts, including Houston-area DOT and airport-adjacent work
- Ability to manage multiple crews and complex scopes while staying on top of cost tracking and change justification (referred to internally as cost adjustments)
Project Locations
All projects are within a 75-mile radius of Houston-areas include Katy, Sealy, Huntsville, The Woodlands. We do not send our PMs to Dallas or Austin, and we avoid overnight stays whenever possible.
