Director of Quality -

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Quality to lead and manage all aspects of our quality function. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure compliance with industry standards while supporting operational efficiency and customer expectations. The Director of Quality will report directly to ownership and serve as a key member of the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage the Quality Department, including staff oversight, performance management, and team development
- Maintain and improve the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Drive quality initiatives aligned with business goals and customer requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, with preference for familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements
- Oversee internal and external audits, including customer and registrar audits
- Develop and implement quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting to ownership
- Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and sales to resolve quality issues and improve processes
- Evaluate supplier quality and establish strong vendor quality programs
- Ensure proper documentation, inspection procedures, and testing protocols are in place
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and escalations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of progressive quality leadership experience, preferably within distribution, manufacturing, or industrial products
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards (required)
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 (preferred)
- Proven experience leading audits, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
Work Environment:
- Primarily on-site in Somerset County, NJ
- One work-from-home day per week
