Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for effectively implementing the Contractor’s Safety Program
- Coordinates all emergency response activities.
- Recommends controls for observed hazards or predicted hazards.
- Has full authorization to correct unsafe acts on the spot, including the authority to stop work to correct safety and health problems.
- Leads weekly safety meetings at the jobsite
- Assist in development of each Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Verifies the correct use of respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provides direct oversight and assembles a detailed report of all incident reviews, near misses, accidents, and emergency response or rescue actions.
- Responsible for hazard recognition, control, and accident prevention.
- Before start of construction, identifies existing and predictable unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous.
- Develop and approve the site-specific Contractor’s Safety Program.
Qualifications
Possesses at least 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following:
- Safety Engineering.
- Safety and Occupational Health.
- Industrial Hygiene (IH).
Certification (Accredited as one of the following:
- Registered Professional Safety Engineer.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Associate Safety professional (ASP).
- Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST).
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
- CIH certified by the board of Certified Safety Professionals/American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
- Graduate Professional (GSP).
Training:
- Completed an OSHA authorized 30-hour course for construction safety within the last 3 years, including elective subjects applicable to this project (e.g. Confined Space Entry, Hoists, Safety and Health Programs, Marine and Diving Operations, etc.).
- Knowledgeable of current safety trends, industry practices, and can exercise technical expertise.
