Job Description
As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for entering medication orders into the computer system and dispensing medications in accurate and timely manner. You will ensure medications are provided in appropriate quantities based on stability, compatibility of the drug, and age-specific needs of the patient. You will assess patients at the initiation of drug therapy, develop patient care plans, and monitor patients according to these plans throughout the course of therapy. You will communicate with physicians to suggest alternate or modified drug therapy programs and coordinate with nursing staff to ensure the most cost-effective delivery method. Additionally, you will oversee the work of pharmacy technicians and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Enter medication orders into the computer system and dispense medications accurately.
- Verify all prescriptions not directly received from the physician or their agent.
- Assess patients at the initiation of drug therapy and develop care plans.
- Communicate with physicians to suggest cost-effective drug therapy programs.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure cost-effective delivery methods.
- Input information into the computerized software system for dispensing and billing.
- Oversee and check the accuracy of pharmacy technician's work.
- Compound pharmaceuticals aseptically and handle sterile and hazardous medications.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in department meetings and maintain required licenses and competencies.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Current and active KS Pharmacist License.
- 1+ years of Pharmacist experience.
- Experience in pharmacy compounding.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal relationship skills and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Acute Pharmacy Compounding experience preferred.
- Hospital experience preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position in a closed-door pharmacy setting with a team of 55 people. The work schedule is 3pm-11:30pm (2nd shift) Monday through Friday, with possible rotating weekends.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $61.00 - $63.00/hr.
