Position: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) plays a vital role in supporting licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care. This position focuses on helping patients recover from injury or surgery, manage chronic conditions, and regain independence through personalized therapy interventions.
Working under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA implements treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and adjusts therapeutic activities to maximize outcomes. This role requires strong clinical skills, compassionate patient interaction, and effective communication with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions
- Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities (e.g., ultrasound, electrical stimulation)
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and document progress accurately
- Communicate patient status, concerns, and progress with the supervising Physical Therapist
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and proper use of assistive devices
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and sanitized
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current state PTA license in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of home health experience preferred
- Current AHA CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Valid auto insurance
- Experience with HomeCare HomeBase preferred
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crawl, and squat for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs
