JOB SUMMARY:
The City of Oak Park is seeking an Event Hub Manager, who will plan, organize, and execute indoor and outdoor events, programs, and rentals within the Event Hub, including the Commercial Kitchen and Amphitheater, managing everything from concept to post-event wrap-up, focusing on budgets, vendors, logistics, operations (safety, setup, tech), marketing, community engagement, and ensuring smooth delivery while hitting strategic goals, often involving multi-tasking for patron, city departments and stakeholder coordination. In addition, this position will perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees and assists with all logistic aspects of the Farmer's Market, including vendor recruitment, marketing, programming, staffing, entertainment, community events and coordination of food assistance programs.
- Oversees and assists with the recruitment and retention of existing and prospective farmers' market vendors and maintaining a positive and sustainable growth of the market. Managing positive relationships with vendors, patrons, and community stakeholders.
- Planning, organizing and executing diverse community events and programs to maximize use of the event hub, commercial kitchen and amphitheater.
- Developing and managing event budgets and financial records including invoice and billing processes.
- Responsible for cash handling, according to City procedures.
- Development and implementation of the marketing strategy of event hub, commercial kitchen and amphitheater to generate revenue and build customer relationships.
- Manages and maintains reservation and scheduling software.
- Managing event day operations, staff, and ensuring attendee satisfaction.
- Supervision, training and scheduling of staff and volunteers to ensure safety and upkeep of the facilities.
- Responsible for rentals of the event hub, commercial kitchen and amphitheater ensuring that renter expectations match the experience provided and maintaining quality customer interactions.
- Working closely with clients, building relationships and handling inquiries and complaints.
- City of Oak Park Event Hub policies and procedures are consistent, communicated and abided by.
- Explores potential funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships and community resources.
- Coordinate activities of the department with those of other city departments.
- Maintains high standards of food safety and sanitation while working closely with the Oakland County Health Department.
- Participate in department and city meetings, professional committees, workshops and round tables that are pertinent to the position.
- Reports and troubleshoots equipment/facility/software failures or malfunctions.
- Post-event evaluation and reporting to the Recreation Director.
- Collaborating with a team and working independently.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Experience with Farmers Markets/programming/sponsorship solicitations is a plus.
- Experience with food assistance and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in Recreation and Event Management, Hospitality Management, Hospitality, or Event Planning.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in the field of recreation with event planning, programming and staff supervision.
Have a valid Michigan Driver's License, and a driving record that meets the minimum City qualifications, to travel to various locations in and around the community.
Preferred:
Event Planning Specialist Certification (CEPS)
ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
TAMS Certified - Techniques of Alcohol Management
Farmer's Market Manager Certification
Shared Kitchen Workshops, Seminars and Educational Classes
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Event Hub Manager must be available for all dates of assignment, including but not limited to, days, evenings, weekends and Holidays, as needed.
SALARY RANGE:
This is a full-time position with salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 (depending on qualifications), non-exempt supervisory position, with benefits.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a business office setting but will occasionally attend meeting/programs after standard business hours and events in the evening and on weekends. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but louder at events. The employee may also be required to work in inclement weather and supervising outdoors as well.
