Summary
Under direct supervision, conducts routine functions and duties related to the manufacturing of products, as well as laboratory upkeep and product-related research and development.
An on-site, full-time Monday through Friday workweek with general business hours. This position serves on the On-Call Team and will work rotating weekends and occasionally work evening hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with the Production Team in the manufacturing of biological products.
- Performs product isolation procedures according to approved Batch Records/SOPs. Conducts routine laboratory functions including diluting, labeling, dispensing of biological samples, reagent solution preparation, laboratory upkeep, and proper cleaning.
- Under supervision conducts routine and atypical experiments for the manufacture of products.
- Manufactures products from various animal and human donor tissues.
- Administers DEA approved Controlled Substances to humanely euthanize purpose bred laboratory animals. Performs small animal surgery, including organ harvesting.
- Utilizes sterile technique when required for scientific tasks.
- Completes Batch Record folders, maintains instruments, and equipment logbooks.
- Assists with tasks necessary for product shipment, inventory control, and record keeping in the Products department.
- Maintains stock levels of internally utilized products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university; or high school graduate with three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in a biological or chemical science field preferred.
- Ability to work in a team laboratory environment with knowledge or familiarity with scientific terminology.
- Utilizes sterile technique. Safe handling of dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
