We are looking for a Certified Financial Planner to learn our planning process and help our members (clients) manage their finances. We are a fee-only fiduciary with a focus on retirement planning.

Position Overview

A lead planner is a dedicated professional who primarily focuses on providing personalized financial guidance and support to members. Spending over 60% of their time working directly with members, these planners are instrumental in helping individuals and families achieve their financial goals. Their core responsibilities include creating comprehensive financial plans, developing investment strategies, managing portfolios and offering ongoing advice to ensure members financial plans remain aligned with their changing needs, goals and market conditions. By dedicating most of their time to member interactions, lead planners ensure that their members receive the highest level of personalized service, fostering a sense of confidence and security in their financial future. These positions may cultivate new member referrals through offering a high-level of service to existing members, but they are not required to develop new member relationships through business development and/or marketing channels.

In addition to their member-facing duties, Lead Planners will support Senior Planners and train junior planners. Planners are expected to stay current with market trends, regulatory changes, and new financial products to provide the best possible advice. They often collaborate with other financial professionals, such as tax advisors and estate planners, to offer a holistic approach to financial planning. Effective communication skills, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of financial principles are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop Customized Financial Plans: Create tailored financial strategies that align with members short-term and long-term goals.
  • Provide Investment Advice: Recommend appropriate investment options based on members objectives and risk profiles.
  • Monitor and Review Portfolios: Regularly review and adjust clients' investment portfolios to ensure they remain aligned with their goals and market conditions.
  • Financial Planning: Help members plan by assessing needs, recommending solutions, and creating financial strategies in all key areas, including Cash Flow, Budgeting, Retirement Planning, Investments, Estate Planning, Tax Planning, Education Planning, and Risk Management.
  • Conduct Regular Member Meetings: Schedule and hold annual/semiannual review meetings to review and discuss changes in clients' situations.
  • Educate Members: Explain complex financial concepts in understandable terms to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with financial regulations and ensure all member interactions and transactions comply with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work with tax advisors, estate planners, and other financial professionals to provide comprehensive advice.
  • Respond to Member Inquiries: Address clients' questions and concerns promptly, providing accurate and helpful information
  • Support Senior Planners: Assist in behind the scenes planning work and sit in on any meetings with member that will be transitioned to their book.
  • Train Junior Planners: Assist in the training of planners’ junior to your role.

Skills and knowledge requirements:

  • Financial Expertise: In-depth knowledge of financial planning, investment strategies, retirement planning, tax laws, and estate planning.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, assess risk, and develop effective financial strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to explain complex financial concepts clearly and persuasively to members.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills to establish trust and rapport with members, understanding their needs and goals.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements to ensure ethical and legal practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify financial issues and develop creative solutions tailored to members' unique situations.
  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with financial planning software, investment platforms, and other technology tools to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Experience and education requirements:

  • Certifications: Completed CFP designation.
  • Education: BSc/BA in accounting, finance, business administration or relevant field; additional professional certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in financial planning or advisory roles, with a proven track record of managing client relationships.
  • Skills Development: Enhanced expertise in specific areas such as retirement planning, tax strategy, or estate planning.
