Founded in 2000 and with locations in Warrenton and Winchester, VA, ESI is a valued strategic partner with longstanding relationships among key general contractors throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region.

ESI is experiencing significant growth and is looking to add a Senior Project Accountant to our team.


Location:

This position will be a hybrid role. There will be frequent on-site project visits and one to two days a week in the office--Warrenton and/or Winchester, VA.

In line with our growth and commitment to safety, we are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Director of EHS to enrich our vibrant global team.

The selected candidate will be essential in advancing the company's environmental, health, and safety organization. The responsibilities include leading initiatives, driving organizational design, conducting in-depth data analysis, and reporting, implementing, and enhancing Standard Operating Procedures in safety. The person will also lead the standardization of our safety practices and define operating boundaries for employees in projects and operations.

This position will report to the CEO and will lead the EHS team. The EHS Senior Director has a multi-site role responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across all manufacturing and field projects. You will lead a team of EHS professionals within our sites to ensure all activities, such as training, compliance, and 6S, are effectively implemented. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with customers and EHS regulatory agencies to set the EHS strategy and implement company policy.


Duties and Responsibilities:


· Executive Leadership: Leading EH&S initiatives throughout Extreme Steel, reporting to the CEO, leveraging your expertise and experience to create the safest environment for our employees and all stakeholders. You lead the department and are responsible for metrics, such as EMR, TRIR, Workers' Compensation Claims, # audits, and others.

· Safety Strategy: Immediately conduct a comprehensive Safety gap review upon hire. Come in with your vision of an industry-leading Safety program, validate with the CEO, VP of Operations, and other organizational leaders, then design and execute a plan to advance our Safety mission.

· Relationships / Being aI work: Working closely and extensively with our shop and field leadership team and our customers, meeting them where they are. Providing direct and comprehensive safety support to all stakeholders in a collaborative and professional way.

· Project Planning: Actively engage with our Estimating Team and Project Managers to understand the project's safety scope and fulfill the project's needs.

· Project Execution: Conduct a premobilization site walk with the PM and Field Foreman. When estimating the project, identify any specific project requirements or internal concerns in the turnover meeting.

· Shop Safety: Conduct twice-monthly hop safety inspections and recommend improvements. Engage Shop employees to get their ideas for how they could work safer. This gives each worker ownership and personal investment in the safety culture, and the ideas that came out of those meetings were often pretty good.

· Policies and Procedures: Review current P&Ps and update, modify, and approve them, as necessary, to ensure a rigorous and industry-leading Safety program.

· Spontaneous Site / Shop Audits: The Safety Team needs to be walking active projects and performing Safety audits frequently, at least a weekly basis, and to support the crew working by identifying safety issues or concerns, but also helping out by looking ahead at the next area of work as well as monitoring what other Trades are doing that could potentESI's put ESI's Crew at risk

· Training/Mentoring: Coaches, mentors, and develops a team of diverse and experienced EHS professionals and leaders. Encourages employees to receive valuable certifications such as Safety Training Supervisor in Construction (STSC), OSHA 10 or 30.

Requirements:


  • A BS in occupational health or engineering, MS, MBA, SP, or STSC is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in occupational health and environmental safety in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • 5+ Years of experience as site EHS Manager in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and workers' administering and auditing core critical safety and hands-on experience in managing and/or auditing industrial factories.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation in conjunction with EHS initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards, and regulations.
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental management practices.
  • Familiarity with impact measurement methodologies and reporting frameworks.
  • Strong project management and training skills to drive safety initiatives across the organization.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and manage relationships with leaders, employees, and customers.
  • Proficient in Safety reporting tools and software.
