Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students with visual impairments as part of a dedicated, inclusive school community. Two key roles are available for the 2026-27 school year: an in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Braillist. Each position is integral to fostering an environment where learners can thrive academically, personally, and socially.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (for teaching applicants)
  • Proficiency with braille transcription and braille technology (for Braillist applicants)
  • Experience working in school environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to tailor educational materials and strategies for diverse student needs
  • Commitment to promoting independence and success for all learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as needed (Teacher of the Visually Impaired)
  • Prepare and transcribe instructional materials into braille and tactile formats (Braillist)
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff regarding accessible resources and accommodations
  • Implement IEP goals and participate in IEP meetings
  • Foster student growth in academic and daily living skills, encouraging self-advocacy
  • Collaborate closely with families, therapists, and support staff
