Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role involves safely operating a sit-down propane forklift to move, load, and unload materials for outgoing shipments in both warehouse and yard environments. You will pick and allocate products using RF scanners, cut materials to size with power tools, and perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down propane forklift to move stock for outgoing shipments.
• Load and unload trucks at the loading dock and in the yard.
• Pick orders for outgoing shipments using RF scanners.
• Allocate and organize product within the warehouse to ensure accurate inventory placement.
• Use chain saws or skill saws to cut product to specified sizes.
• Measure materials accurately using tape measures on a daily basis.
• Lift up to 50 lbs as needed and move or slide product up to 100 lbs when required.
• Perform general clean-up of the work area at the end of each shift to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines while operating forklifts, power tools, and other equipment.
• Assist with general material handling and inventory-related tasks as needed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a forklift.
• Proficiency in operating a sit-down propane forklift in warehouse and yard environments.
• Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving stock.
• Ability to use RF scanners for picking and tracking inventory.
• Ability to read and use tape measures accurately for measuring materials.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and move or slide product up to 100 lbs safely.
• Strong attention to safety procedures when operating forklifts and power tools.
• Reliability and consistency in completing assigned tasks and shift responsibilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with general labor tasks in a warehouse or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with inventory processes and product allocation within a warehouse.
• Comfort using chain saws or skill saws to cut materials to size.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area throughout and after each shift.
• Willingness to work both indoors in a warehouse and outdoors in a yard as needed.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a warehouse environment, operating forklifts and handling materials in an active industrial setting. At times, you will work outside in the yard loading and unloading trucks, so you should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions. The role involves regular use of forklifts, RF scanners, tape measures, and power tools such as chain saws or skill saws. The environment is hands-on and physical, requiring safe lifting and movement of materials while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
