Job DescriptionResponsibilities of this Project Accountant role include:

  • Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions related to active construction jobs.
  • Review and process invoices from subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and equipment suppliers, applying the appropriate cost codes and verifying billing accuracy.
  • Track and maintain subcontractor compliance documentation such as insurance certificates, tax forms, lien releases, and preliminary notices.
  • Coordinate weekly payment cycles, prepare disbursements, and communicate with subcontractors regarding payment status and required documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor and subcontractor profiles in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with establishing new projects, updating cost codes, and generating job cost reports to support real-time financial tracking.
  • Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including WIP schedules, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile bank activity, and support fixed asset tracking and reporting.

Minimum requirements:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong familiarity with WIP, percentage of completion, progress billing, and job costing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and any construction ERP.
  • Organized, attentive to details, with good communication skills able to work closely with staff, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Good at critical thinking and must have the ability to proactively resolve issues and manage priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
