Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An educational institution in Nashua, NH is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support their school community. This role requires effective communication facilitation for students and staff who use American Sign Language (ASL), ensuring an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and students to provide appropriate interpretation services
- Support students in academic and social settings to enhance their learning experience
- Assist with communication access during school meetings, extracurricular activities, and school-related travel
- Remain professional and maintain confidentiality in all interactions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification or equivalent experience
- Prior experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12 schools
- Ability to travel as needed to support off-site events or activities
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and respectful environment for students with hearing impairments
Location:Nashua, New Hampshire; occasional travel within the region may be required.
