PRN Healthcare is seeking a travel Respiratory Therapist for a travel job in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Job Description & Requirements

Rotating or straight nights

12/6 hr shifts (variable) 6 on 8 off

Every other weekend, applicable holidays
NICU experience needed

• General Information
  • Beds: 260-280
  • Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? 2 minimum
  • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Upon manager review with strong experience
• Patient Types:
  • Pediatric Critical Care, Neonatal Critical Care, and general inpatient respiratory care
  • Must be prepared to care for NICU patients if the requisition calls for that – NRP cert required
• Required Certifications:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist – RRT Required
    • manager will not consider CRT
  • South Dakota RCP License (SDBMOE.gov) – prior to submittal – takes 30 days
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS. If working in NICU, must have NRP.
• Required Education:
  • AA Degree
• Skills required:
  • Critical Care, General respiratory care experience
• Support on the Unit:
  • Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist 24/7
  • Supervisors, Manager, Director
• Charting System:
  • EPIC (required)
  • Omnicell
• Equipment:
  • Ventilators: Draeger V500 and Savina 300, 3100A Oscillator, Hamilton C1/MRI
  • ResMed APAP, CPAP, Bi-level
  • Airvo2 High flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest, ABL90 Blood gas machines, IPV, Praxair iNO
• Floating: If yes, where?
  • RT Coverage throughout hospital and ED
  • Will not float to other facilities, unless hired for that specifically
• Orientation: (facility and unit)
  • Rapid City Hospital, Respiratory Care Department
• Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: Every other
  • Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? Dependent on facility/job requisition
    • Home Health Call: every other week - Business hours are 0800-1730, call hours are 1730-0800 and weekends/holidays.
    • Spearfish: 1am-6am – 3 days per week
    • Will any other facilities have call requirements? Generally not unless it’s planned for events like the Rally at Rapid City Hospital. At Spearfish and Sturgis hospitals, we have call, so yes if we had needs there.
  • Holiday Expectations: Work on holidays that fall within contract dates
  • Approval of time off? up to 7 days, must extend contract if taking a full week off; no RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally – first 3 weeks of August
